In the late 1980’s a new mine was discovered in Southern India that produced Mysore Star Rubies which caught the eyes of Syed Zafer Ahmed who instantaneously fell in love with them and started buying the rough Mysore Star Ruby gemstones. He came to Bangkok in 1990 to trade the Mysore Star Rubies and immediately fell in love with the Land of Smiles. That year he founded Bright Green Stones and has been building up the company’s high reputation, level of trust and inventory of various precious gemstones until his passing in 2016.
Since the passing of Syed Zafer Ahmed the Bright Green Stones company has survived on by his three sons, all of whom share their father’s love and passion for precious gemstones and followed their father’s footsteps to become Accredited Gemologists from the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) located in Bangkok. The company now specializes in Colombian Emeralds as well as providing other natural precious stones such as Ruby, Sapphire and Spinels all at a wholesale prices since Bright Green Stones is able to obtain the best quality stones straight from the source due to connections established within the gemstone industry over a period of three decades.
Bright Green Stones is conveniently located in the heart of Bangkok’s world-famous Gemstone District along Silom Road. The company is a member of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Trader’s association and is recognized by the Gemological Research Lab (GRS) for the Award of Excellence for Gemological Knowledge as well as supplying the gem industry with some of the world’s most gorgeous gemstones.
